Hurricane Eta and Iota

In the first days of November, Honduras was immensely devastated by Hurricane Eta. A few days later, a second hurricane hit our country, leaving families with nothing. Many of our own team members at Caffex lost everything — it was impossible to simply stand by and watch. The initiative to start a fundraiser to help our colleagues was a great success, as we were able to reach our goal and more. (To watch a recap of the event, please click this link.) This would not have been possible without the help and collaboration of our donors:

Initially, the collected funds were destined to help 12 of our colleagues, whose homes were flooded and faced immense hardships. However, as we saw people’s solidarity and spirit of generosity we also decided to help the families of our colleagues as well as some temporary team members at Caffex.

Pictured above is Dina Laínez, whose home began to flood in the early morning of November 4th, 2020. Her sole focus shifted to saving her one year old daughter and her dog. They remained on the roof of her home for almost 48 hours with just a loaf of bread for food. Thankfully, she and her loved ones were saved by a rescue boat. In her interview Dina mentioned,"I am eternally grateful with the Caffex family, peers, and clients. This is something we did not expect. Thank you!"

Pictured above is Jennifer Garcia, who heroically helped her family evacuate before the water flooded their homes. She fearlessly left behind material goods in order to save her loved ones.
